4 Signs You Are OVERCOMING Imposter Syndrome

Hey MTV ๐Ÿ“บ, welcome to my crib (๐˜ˆ๐˜’๐˜ˆ this blog), where we talk a lot about symptoms of experiencing imposter syndromeโ€ฆ.โฃ
โฃ
But on this fine Friday, I wanted to shed light on the good shit that you may be experiencing because youโ€™re doing the werk โœจ so, here are 4 ways that youโ€™re overcoming imposter syndrome:โฃ
โฃ
๐Ÿ’ธ Someone says "no" to your offer and it doesn't ruin your day.โฃ
โฃ
Sometimes, a no means not right now or not this offer. Also, just because an offer isnโ€™t right for one person, doesnโ€™t mean itโ€™s not perfect for another. You are someoneโ€™s sparkly unicorn.โฃ
โฃ
๐ŸŽ™ You don't feel the need to over-prepare for guest speaking gigs or coaching calls.โฃ
โฃ
Of course, if you do better with notes, thatโ€™s totally okay - but you know your shit, and people usually want to hear what YOU think about your shit - so own that shit ๐Ÿ’ฉโฃ

Does Making Money Make You Feel Less Like An Imposter?

Long story short, this is my hot take:โฃ
โฃ
NOPE!ย
โฃ
And hereโ€™s why - money doesnโ€™t magically change the course of your thoughts.โฃ
โฃ
Letโ€™s say that you think you feel like a fraud because you canโ€™t book a client. You think to yourselfโ€ฆ.โฃ
โฃ
โŒ Iโ€™m not good enough.โฃ
โŒ It seems like I donโ€™t know what Iโ€™m doing.โฃ
โฃ
But then yay, you sign a client! Smooth sailing now, right?! โฃ
โฃ
Until the initial excitement wears off, and youโ€™re thinking about your first call or your first project with your new client. You suddenly start to have the same thoughts, because what if you do a job and they donโ€™t like it? What if youโ€™re on the call with them and you donโ€™t know what to say?โฃ

If you feel like an imposter and think youโ€™ll be cured by someone signing a contract...I can guarantee you, itโ€™s your thoughts...

If Your Content Feels Unoriginal

Imposter Syndrome can creep up in what seems like a million different ways, you can really feel like youโ€™re on the struggle bus because there are so many ways it can show up in your life.

One of the ways itโ€™s come through for me in the past was when I was trying to work on content. Content being the topics Iโ€™d want to talk about, the posts Iโ€™d want to make for social media, podcasts, etc. I would always think that the content I was putting out into the world was unoriginal, and that someone else had said all this before. It would go hand in hand with the fear that someone would call me out on a topic I spoke about because it wasnโ€™t 100% my own. It made me fearful that my community would reject me.

It made me hold back some ideas that I had about a concept I would come across. I would see how it would apply to me but then I would never go through with implementing it into my content...

How to Stop Feeling Like a Fraud

Are you letting imposter syndrome run your biz?
ย
As I designed the template for the new version of my website, my excitement grew to anxiousness as I continued to add text, move pictures around, and hit Save whenever I finished a section. Thoughts began surfacing that I found all too familiar - Will anyone even buy this? Am I asking for too much? Who am I to charge others for my time? It was a mental dance that I knew all too well.ย After an hour, I shut my laptop down without finishing the page, feeling defeated.
ย
I present to you, imposter syndrome in its worst form;ย self-sabotage.
ย
Imposter syndrome is the psychological phenomenon in which a person doubts their abilities or accomplishments and has a persistent, internalized fear of being exposed as a fraud. This internalized fear is perpetuated by thoughts of inadequacy and overwhelm, and as an entrepreneur, I began to recognize it when I wasย levelling-up. For example:ย Being on podcasts as an interviewee and having to talk a...
